Proposed rates will support water resources, clean water in AWC’s Eastern Group

Arizona Water Company is seeking updated rates for its Eastern Group in 2024 to support water resources and investments to support reliable, safe, and clean water.

    The proposed new rates would:
  • Recover costs for infrastructure improvements, including water main and water service connection replacements.
  • Allow for the continued investment in water treatment facilities in the Eastern Group, to maintain safe and clean water for customers.
  • Recover costs for infrastructure improvements, including water main and water service connection replacements.
  • Provide the opportunity to acquire new water sources of supply for the Eastern Group water systems.
  • Support efficient use of all water supplies through water conservation programs.

The proposal must be reviewed by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC), a group of elected officials tasked with reviewing and approving rates charged by public service providers. Arizona Water anticipates the new rates will take effect in the beginning of 2024.

The ACC will hold a public hearing on this matter beginning on September 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. Customers may provide comments to the ACC about Arizona Water’s request for new rates and other proposals during two public comment sessions scheduled in July and September 2023.
